Termite pre-treatment for new construction in Bay County
Preventive termite treatment for builders and owner-builders. Slab treatment before the pour, final-grade treatment before your final, and the paperwork your building department and lender need.

Two trips, done in the right order
Florida Building Code requires soil treatment under the slab and again around the outside once the final grade is in. Here’s how we run it on your job.
1. Bring us in early
A week’s notice is ideal. We’d rather be part of the schedule than squeezed in the morning of the pour, and it keeps your concrete crew from waiting on us.
2. Slab treatment
After the pad is excavated, backfilled and compacted, and before the vapor barrier goes down and the slab is poured. The treatment record goes on the posting board or in the job box when we leave.
3. Final-grade treatment
Once landscaping and final grade are done, we treat the soil around the outside of the foundation. This has to happen before final building approval, so give us a call when the grade is set.
4. Paperwork
After the final trip you get the Certificate of Compliance for the building department and a HUD-NPMA-99-B for the lender, and we post the permanent termite notice by the water heater or electrical panel.
What we use
Most jobs get a liquid soil treatment. We’ll recommend what fits the build and put it on the bid.
- Liquid soil treatment: Taurus, Termidor SC or Termidor HE, applied at label rates under the slab and around the foundation.
- Trelona bait stations: installed around the home as a baiting system instead of liquid soil treatment.
- Wood treatment (Bora-Care): only when soil treatment isn’t practical for the build. Any framing added after we treat has to be treated before your final, so tell us before you go this route.
Whatever we use is listed on the treatment record, the certificate and the permanent notice.

Priced per job, itemized by trip
Every bid breaks out the slab treatment and the final-grade treatment separately, so you know what each trip costs and what you’re paying for. Send us the plans or the square footage under roof and we’ll get you a number.

The permanent notice
Florida Building Code requires a permanent termite notice near the water heater or electrical panel. Ours lists the treatment, the date and who to call. It’s there for the homeowner years from now, so please leave it up.
Pre-treatment FAQ
When should we call you?
As soon as you have a pour date. A week’s notice is ideal. We treat after the pad is compacted and before the vapor barrier goes down.
Why two trips?
The code requires the soil under the slab to be treated before the pour, and the soil around the outside of the foundation to be treated after final grade. The second treatment can’t happen until the grade is set, so it’s a separate trip.
What if the soil gets disturbed after you treat?
If the treated area is disturbed by plumbing, grading or other trades before the pour, it has to be retreated. Let us know and we’ll come back out.
What paperwork do we get?
A treatment record after each trip. After the final trip, the Certificate of Compliance for the building department, a HUD-NPMA-99-B for the lender, and the permanent notice posted at the home.
What does the builder sign?
Before we treat, you sign our written contract and the state’s Consumer Notice Form. Florida requires both before any termite treatment. New-construction contracts are issued to the builder and passed to the homeowner at closing.
Do you provide the form for FHA and VA loans?
Yes. The HUD-NPMA-99-B is the new-construction termite form lenders ask for on FHA and VA loans. We fill it out after the final treatment.
Is there a warranty?
Yes. Florida requires a written warranty of at least one year on a new-construction pre-treatment, and the homeowner can renew it for up to four more years. It covers native subterranean termites. Formosan termites are excluded, and the contract says so on the first page. We go over renewal with the homeowner when the home is finished.
