What to look for

Signs you might have termites

  • Mud tubes running up the foundation, a wall or a pier. Subterranean termites build them to travel from the soil to the wood.
  • Swarmers or piles of wings near windows, doors or light fixtures, usually in spring.
  • Wood that sounds hollow or crumbles when you press on it.
  • Small piles of pellets under furniture, trim or window sills. That’s often drywood termites.

If you see any of these, don’t spray it or knock it down. Leave it so we can see what’s there.

Treatment options

Bait stations or liquid treatment

Both work. We recommend one based on the house, the yard and what we find, and the quote shows exactly what you’re paying for.

Trelona bait stations

Stations go in the ground around the outside of the home. Termites feed on the bait and carry it back to the colony. No trenching and no drilling through your driveway or patio.

Each year we check every station and inspect the property.

Liquid soil treatment

We trench along the foundation, rod the soil, and drill where concrete meets the house, like the driveway, patio or porch, to treat the soil underneath.

Each year we do a renewal inspection of the property.

You choose the product

Taurus SC and Termidor SC have the same active ingredient (fipronil) at the same strength. Taurus costs less. Termidor HE is BASF’s newest formula, designed for smaller trenches and less drilling. Termidor costs more, and your quote shows the difference.

Coverage

Retreat or repair: what your bond covers

Retreat bond. If termites come back while your bond is active, we come back and treat again at no charge. This is what most existing homes get, including older homes and homes with known damage.

Repair bond. Also pays to repair new termite damage. We issue these on new construction we pre-treated, and sometimes on a newer home with clear access and a proven history under a bond.

Your contract says in writing which one you have. We’ll never let you guess.

Price

Free inspection, written quote

Every home is different. Bait pricing depends on how many stations the perimeter needs. Liquid pricing depends on the linear feet and how much concrete we have to drill. So we look first, then quote.

Annual renewal is priced on your quote.

We report what we find. No scare tactics. If you don’t need treatment, we’ll tell you.

Selling or buying a home? The state WDO report is a separate service. See WDO inspections →

Your paperwork

What you get in writing

Florida sets rules for termite contracts. Here’s what that means for you, in order.

1. Before any work or payment

You get the written contract and the state’s Consumer Notice Form to read and sign. Nothing gets treated and nothing gets charged until you’ve signed.

2. The first page of your contract

It says in bold whether your bond is retreatment only or repair and retreatment, and any limits on it. Our bonds cover native subterranean termites. They do not cover Formosan termites, and the contract says so at the top of page one.

3. After we treat

We post a treatment notice in an accessible, easy-to-find spot at your home with our company name, the date, the product and the termite treated. A spot treatment is marked “spot treatment only.”

4. Every year after

After each renewal inspection you get a signed report of what we found and whether we treated. If termites come back under your bond, Florida gives us 30 days from your written notice to inspect and 90 days to retreat.

Questions

Termite treatment FAQ

Is the termite inspection really free?

Yes, for homeowners looking at termite treatment or protection. If you need a written state WDO report for a home sale or refinance, that’s our WDO inspection, starting at $95.

Which is better, bait or liquid?

Both work. Liquid puts a treated zone in the soil around the house. Bait works through the colony feeding on it and doesn’t require drilling concrete. We’ll recommend one based on your home and explain why.

What’s included in the annual renewal?

An annual inspection of the property. If you have bait stations, we also check every station. Renewal keeps your bond active.

Do you treat drywood termites?

We spot-treat drywood termites in the wood where we find them. That’s a one-time treatment of those areas. Our termite bonds cover native subterranean termites only. We don’t do whole-house tent fumigation. That takes a separate Florida fumigation license. If your home needs tenting, we’ll tell you.

Can I get a repair bond?

Repair bonds are mostly for new construction we pre-treated. For a newer home with clear access and a proven history under a bond, ask and we’ll look at it. Older homes and homes with known damage get a retreat bond.

Do your bonds cover Formosan termites?

No. Our contracts exclude Formosan termites, and it’s printed at the top of the first page. If we see signs of Formosan termites, we’ll tell you.
